Have purchased WaterMate Pro automatic system. Tried installing using the instructions but the water always sprays out of the hose connector that joins the pipe from pump to values or it tries to blow it off. In desperation we removed everything on the irrigation side of values so it is just an open pipe - the pressure just seems too high - it just sprays out of push-on hose connector. We've battled this for ages now so any advice would be much appreciated.
Hi Sam,
It sounds like either the rubber “O” ring on the valve male connector might be missing or damaged, or a faulty connector on the hose that connect to the valves, both these Hoze-lok compatible snap-on connector items should be available from any good garden centre, ( remove and take your items as samples to match up )
If the irrigation side is disconnected from the valves is there any water flowing from either of the valve outlets when the pump is running?
Can you feel or here the valves click?
I think, if there is too much pressure the pump will shut down ( it has a built in pressure switch on the top )
Thanks for your advice - yes, I can confirm the water seems to come through the values fine. We'd removed all the piping to the irrigation and just left a short, straight pipe ( with nothing further connected ) to test that. We also hear the values click when the system is switched on so they seem to be communicating the control unit correctly.
We'll substitute a different hose connector as you suggest - unfortunately the weather hasn't played ball today - I think we have a Hozelock one around somewhere. Not really sure how such a basic value could be causing the issues but worth a try. Cheers Sam
