I’ve set up my water mate mini ( solar ) in my allotment greenhouse. I set up in off line mode and got the control panel to appear on my iPhone once. When I try to get the control panel now I get ‘Harvst-xxxx’ but when I select it I get ‘unable to join network’ or ‘unsecured network’. I’ve tried switching off 4G and using ‘http://192.168.4.1’ but nothing. I’ve been through the instructions and watched the videos many times but still stuck. Watering manually is fine. I’m technologically challenged so please make any advice very simple!! so
Hi Hooky
We are hearing of some users with iPhones having trouble connecting to the Harvst wifi network as it doesn't have an internet connection. Turning off 4G is a great start, but hasn't seemed to help you. It is an unsecured network but that doesn't matter. The box is only awake while you are working with it and it's easier not to have a password.
The fact that you managed it once is interesting. I assume the network appears in your list of WiFi networks OK, you just can't connect to it, is that right?
Chris
That’s right. I’m getting all sorts of messages I don’t understand about ‘WPA2( AES ) or WPA3’ and configuring IP,DNS and PROXY but basically I can’t get the control panel.
Curiouser and curiouser…I went to the allotment today and as my wife went into the greenhouse the system began a thirty second water of the tomatoes all on its own!We hadn’t touched a thing! My phone was in the car and when I tried getting linked up we were still blocked. Help!
Hi Hooky, if it's hot and you had turned on "solar responsiveness" it might have been that.
Regarding those technical things on screen ( eg WPA2 etc ) ... it looks like you might be looking at the *WiFi settings* for that network, rather than actually connecting to that network. Without being next to you and seeing how your particular phone is set up, it's hard to say exactly what you need to press to connect to a WiFi network. It varies between each model of phone and operating system, and is not something we have control of.
Perhaps try a different device that you are familiar with, or ask someone local who is familiar with phones and wifi to see where the stumbling block might be? Sorry it's something we can't more easily help with from here :(
Once you are connected, you can check the settings for the system and your tomato watering mystery will be resolved!
