I have one of the original Kickstarter WaterMate Pros.
Unfortunately, the battery does not last long enough for my current water usage.
I don’t need any additional aux outputs or a temperature sensor of a new mains Control, and therefore I wonder if I can convert my existing one from solar to mains? I’m assuming this may involve removing the battery and rewiring the power input for a waterproof 240/12V 200W power supply.
It just seems a shame to have to abandon my current Control for a new one if it could be converted.
Hi Grahame, yes you could remove the battery and replace it with a 12V power supply, as long as the power supply can source up to 8 amps for the pump, along with the surge/inrush current that the pump needs. Our power supplies handle that.
I would say that this mod is not formally supported, and your box will still behave as a solar one ( sleeping and waking every 30 minutes )
