Water mate control system dead?

After a couple of days away I have come back to an unresponsive control system. Seems to have stopped abruptly on 14th June. All connections seem fine but the control unit does not switch on. Is it time to buy a new one?
I had been receiving low water alerts for a while - butt was full, and flushing the system made no difference. It was still working.
Worst possible timing as I really need the system at this time of year

Hi Al,
Are you using a pro or mini pump?
Could be a flat battery, or might be a blown fuse in the control unit, see link for trouble shooting.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the quick reply. It is a mini pump. The battery was reporting okay until it stopped.

Hi Al
Could I ask you to pop the cover open and check the fuse? If you're not comfortable doing that we can check it here. We're running a fast turnaround and can usually send the box back the same day we get it.

Okay - the fuse does look burned out.

Can you confirm it's a little red one ( 10A )? Let us know ASAP and we'll send a 15A one in the post now.

The mini pumps tend to pull more current than normal when the bearing is showing signs of failing. A 15A fuse will still protect the control unit, but it shouldn't be run for extended periods of time, so that's what the "pump fault shutdown" feature is for. The control unit will detect high current and shut the pump off early. You can check your mini pump by opening the black bit on the bottom and checking for rust / clear spinning of the white impeller.

Wouldn't I be better replacing the 10 amp and ensuring the rest of the system is properly working.

We replace all those 10A with a 15A when reconditioning control units ( latest version of control units have a thermal fuse which doesn't need replacing ). Do you have a spare there already? if you do, then yes do replace and get testing again.

A you please give me details for the fuse. The replacement hasn’t arrived yet and I need to get it up and running asap. Is it a 15amp micro blade? ( I threw out the blown one like an idiot ).
